The first of a collection of “pedagogical textbooks” under the name of “Theater Logs”, that offers a chronicle, an interview, biographical data of participants and bibliographical references that set a context and follow up the staging of Creator Principium by Héctor Mendoza, launched in Mexico City in May 1996 with Mendoza himself as a director. This “didactic comedy” is part of a trilogy in which the director, playwright and teacher reflects (in the way Stanislavski does in An Actor Prepares ), on Diderot’s formulas on learning acting, which Mendoza calls “formal/performance school”, and Stanislavski’s formulas which Mendoza calls “experiential school”; such postulates —“corrected” by him— are but the beginning to his own acting teaching methodology. On the other hand, in the work “Rehearsal log”, Braulio Peralta chronicles the process of staging the mentioned play play, from rehearsals to premiere, as well as an interview that explains Héctor Mendoza´s esthetic concept and different facets of his artistic and teaching paths. The script for Creator Principium and an extensive photo section are included.
